Was consumed by the Guild Wars and magic thoughts this morning, so I combined the two into some custom cards

No Right Choices WIP
Been scribbling away at this for the past two hours and 1) his armor can go right to hell (says the person who equipped it on him) and 2) I'm slowly wrapping up Icebrood Saga and the Raven Sanctum was intriguing. Despite not being a norn, Raven's teachings certainly resonate with Mael.
Unfortunately, the poor bastard thinks he alone should bear the burden of the most dire decisions, so things get fun later on...

Ok so at the NA art party there was a brief bit of my ranger pet deciding to get all up in EVERYONES faces, especially @cheddargoblin ‘s lovely charr who had briefly been using the warclaw cub tonic and thus lead to the train of thought and very important philosophical discussion of the similarities between Charr and Warclaws (theyre both murder cats, after all)
Which naturally lead to me wondering how close to a warclaw’s face (specifically the janthir wilds skin/journeykin look) a charr could get…. I’ve only tried it with fem charr so far personally, because im not certain any of the male faces do the right fluff angles— and then decided I wanted to share the sliders from my attempt >:3
Anyone is welcome to use them if they so desire, naturally, it was just a fun little game of matching for me! This particular color scheme to match uses bobcat as the base/main color and coffee as the pattern color, with the tabby fur pattern (i…forgot to take screens of that page imma be real)
But yeah! Here ya go! Warcharr? Feels a little redundant but it was fun

OKAY. NEW SOTO CHARACTER INTRO TIME.
Meet Stephan Corsello~!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Former street urchin kid turned into the most scholarly sneak-thief you've ever met. He grew up picking pockets on the streets of Garenhoff and daydreaming about what fantastic magical goodies could be sealed away up in the Wizard's Tower (and what those magical goodies might be capable of).
It had always been a dream of his to be able to properly case the place. Make off with a few trinkets or a powerful relic -- nothing too noteworthy. He didn't want to pick a fight, after all. He'd just never had the chance to properly study magic and feels that artifacts are the closest he'll be able to get.
That was, until something happened to the tower, and the elementals ran wild.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As it turns out, he's not from our Garenhoff. He's from the fractal Garenhoff that spilled out of the Mists. When everything in his life upends and suddenly goes pear-shaped, he gets the bonus crisis of his entire concept of reality being overturned added shortly thereafter.
After being helped to safety by Wayfinder Arwn, and beginning to put together bits and pieces of what's happening around him, he insists on joining her to help other refugees of the shattered fractals. Now, as a new and somewhat inadvertent recruit to the Astral Ward, he accompanies her through the events of SotO to learn more about the world he came from, the world he's now in, and hopefully help stabilize the Mists.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's got some serious lost puppy energy, and his lifelong dreams of daring adventurous capers are helping him... postpone a bit of the existential crisis of processing the reality of his existence. He can get to that later, when there aren't demons to worry about, right? Right??

Final Thoughts on the SOTO Expac as a whole :
The story was As expected but there's nothing New that can be done anymore. Every twist and angle has been played and overplayed in overtime, we can't blame Anet for that. It was a satisfying end and the very " You are the hero . THE .. Hero" Story that everyone Praises Final Fantasy for all the time.
Anet's writing team is definitely Struggling with the new pacing. Loose ends abound and I suspect many may be touched on in the future to help Tie new material into the existing Storyline. However, I feel like they need to Buff up on their non-human behaviors… literally at all. It's starting to feel like they just can't write for any non-human characters, Much less Characters who's species operate on an Entirely different Sociopolitical And Moral Spectrum. Isgarren is the first long-form example of this we've seen in any capacity. and he still does human things. The kryptis we focus on are part of human-flavoured Noble House drama even.
The Optimization needs Massive Work. Massive, massive, massive work. It'd help if they hired an entire team of playtesters on different ranges of Machines in order to ensure that The game works from it's Minimal Specs Up .
Lastly : This Expac was The Reworking expac. They changed a lot of core systems and refreshed the game for a modern market, which is where all of their effort went. With that out of the way, I Hope they can step up the story pacing and feel in future Expacs.

"Rurik!! We have to go back! "No! Surely you don't mean.....!? "YES. We have to do it...We have to......FINISH THE PROPHECIES CAMPAIGN!!" "(Shouting!)"
When: Saturday June 24th UTC 11pm
This is a 2 hour time slot where [Oops] members will be around and ingame in Guild Wars (one!). It is a lo-fi and chill / MMO gaming like it's 2005 adventure and experience.
We will prioritise getting first timers through the missions, however we are also down to farm dungeon books, titles, vanquish or run around capping elite skills.
If you never experienced GW1 in its heyday, or if you just want to bask in the nostalgia of a world without a Z axis, come along and bring your good builds, your weird builds, and of course, your Dagger wielding Dunkoros!

Morning
Silverstream Homestead, near Snowden Drifts. One year after the deaths of Cadira, Cadfael, and Mira. Timeline Carinae.
The sky was still dark when Avin walked outside, shutting the door quickly to keep out the winter chill. He leaned his back to the wall, shoving his arm into a pocket and looking out to where the valley stretched below them.
"You're up early," he said, softly, into the quiet night.
The red lump above his homestead didn't say anything. He didn't expect them to, especially not today, not at this hour. That was okay. They spoke better in silence sometimes.
"I'm coming up. Leave a space for me?"
Avin waited a few seconds, and nodded, hearing a response in the silence, then made the small trek up. Snow crunched, small in the vast peace of the night.
The lump still hadn't said anything, but there was a small patch of displaced snow to their left. That was invitation enough.
Avin sat down, swinging his legs over the edge in a motion made familiar with time, and leaned against their shoulder. Antares still ran warm, despite the thinness of the blanket wrapped around him.
But then, so did he. They matched, in that way.
Time passes. Avin lets his attention wander, eyes following the path of near-invisible snow owls, tracing the slow movement of the clouds, backlit by the moon.
Snow Leopard's starry tail had just begun to hide behind the mountains when Antares sighs, heavy and frail. Avin calls his attention back down to Tyria, to the too-young charr beside him.
"It's... hard." Antares said. They didn't bother giving context. They both knew what they were talking about. "Sometimes it doesn't feel like they're gone. Like I could turn and hear them again. Sometimes I do."
Avin hummed in acknowledgement. Displaced snowflakes drifted to the ground, making no sound.
"They were- are, my warband. But... Rylix and Cadfael. Nasius and Mira. Vachel and Cadira. They were all so much closer."
"Feeling left out?"
"No," Antares says, a little too fast, a little too brittle. "Wouldn't... wouldn't want that."
Another hum.
"But. It's... I can hold it together. We all lost them, but the others lost more."
"Doesn't mean you didn't lose anything," Avin says, gently.
A frustrated growl. "But- You can do it."
"Hm?"
"You're so... solid," Antares said, picking at his clothes, and leaning on Avin just that little bit more. "Even when one of us gets injured. Or when you're in pain. Or when Satyrn doesn't write, and the others are worried. You're always collected. Always looking out for us."
"Part of being an adult," Avin says, unable to keep the dryness out of the words, but preferring it to the surprise that flooded him.
A huff. Silence. A pouty one this time.
"Sorry," Avin said, leaning back on his arm. Above, Wolf's astral form glowed brightly, not yet broken by the sun's rays. "Bad joke. I've always had the tendency to do that. Probably picked it up when we were kids, and then held until we had kids."
A questioning sound. "Tessa, and...?"
Avin laughed quietly, letting his fondness shine through. "Haven't figured that one out?"
"No." Simple, succinct. Silly.
Avin pushed himself back upright, and reached over to ruffle Antares's hair. "Okay. Let me know when you do, alright?"
Antares looked grumpy, but it was more of a normal, standard grumpy, and less the shroud of grief that had shrouded them for the past week. Avin took the win. The one thing all the Silvers shared was enjoying having a puzzle to solve. Even if some of them wouldn't admit it.
Though he had a little bit more faith that Antares would figure it out soon enough.
"Sun's rising," Avin said, gently. "I'm headed inside. Want a warm drink?"
Antares's sigh breathed fog into the early light. "Yes, please. Thank you."
"You're always welcome," Avin said, and bumped their shoulder with his own before jumping down.

making a meme for another thing reminds me of this badass moment in Guild Wars 2
Literal human god towering over your playable character, with overwhelming aura and firewall surrounding the both of you in a fight-to-the-death moment, straightface intimidating you:
"I am fire! I am war! What are you?"
"Still standing."
I need to boot up that game T.T

In my head, Spencer Charnas is the singing voice of my asura character Maxx. He's actually an android possessed by the ghost of a former Inquest member. That song was 'created' by them for my main character asura Vividatt, who has gotten into the taste of blood. Literally.
In my head, Alecia 'Mixi' Demner is the singing voice of my other asura character Tahaia. Perhaps she 'created' this song for Vivs as well. He is their school's principal after all. She is usually very quiet and has huge creepy eyes that stare at people. When she performs she becomes more lively.

I've been playing GW1 for the first time after playing GW2 as a revenant for 7 years, and half the fun is finding a character and checking them off my list of revenant legends. I'm halfway through Factions and at this point I'm at 5 out of 7 (Jalis, Ventari, Glint, Shiro, Viktor/Archemorus).
